Theatre Venture Closes

Dear friend, colleague or supporter,

I regret to announce that, after 30 years of making theatre with the communities of east London, Theatre Venture has alas succumbed to the economic climate, and has ceased to trade.

The following is a link to the press statement that was issued this week:
TV Press Statement

All of us here at the company, staff and trustees, are extremely angry and dismayed at this development, yet we wish to ensure Theatre Venture's legacy endures - whether this be through our current projects being picked up by peer companies, or by preserving and making accessible the company's archive.

Accordingly, we are holding a special Theatre Venture Legacy meeting at Stratford Circus on the evening of Wednesday December 7th.

Is there a future for Theatre Venture?

What is the future for community arts?

What might an ideal model for a modern community arts organisation look like in 2012?

These are just a few of the question that might arise, so please feel free to join the debate, or just attend our farewell drinks afterwards.

It would be good to mark this momentous development with as many of our friends as possible and I look forward to a seeing those of you who might like to attend.
